90.9 WRCJ welcomes classical radio veteran Haley Taylor to Detroit as our newest music host. Before joining 90.9 FM, Taylor dedicated 8 years of her media life to WGTE Public Media in Toledo. You’ll start hearing Haley October 7 on 90.9 FM. Dr. Dave continues The Morning Show, Haley handles Midday Music and Peter Whorf moves to The Drive-Time Elixir. Here’s what Haley has to say:
“I started my career at my local NPR station in Toledo, Ohio, serving as a radio host and producer. During this time, I had the privilege of hosting programs such as Morning Classics, Evening Classics, and Classical Overnights. Additionally, I created and produced the arts and culture radio series, The Rough Draft Diaries, and various radio plays where I had the opportunity to explore some acting skills.
After 8 years in radio, I left to direct, produce, and edit audiobooks at Dreamscape Media. In this role, I oversaw all aspects of the production process, from understanding the text and casting the talent to directing and editing recording sessions. I also mixed audio, integrating sound effects and music, and occasionally performed myself.
Getting back to radio, back to public media, feels like coming home in a lot of ways. I’m excited to return to a form of storytelling I grew up listening to. A sound that is familiar and yet new with every listen. And that’s what I hope to bring to our audience, something new and fresh yet familiar and personal.
Beyond my career, I watch a lot film, listen to a lot of vinyl, eat good food with good friends, and love a good story.”
