Come and celebrate those often unsung with Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” and Tower’s “Sixth Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman.” Also featured are Still’s “Symphony No. 1 in A flat major ‘Afro-American’ ” and Custer’s arrangement of “Duke Ellington!” Finish with Bernstein’s stirring “Symphonic Dances” from WEST SIDE STORY.
The evening’s featured soloist is Troy, MI, student Shawn Lee, winner of the RSO’s Young Artist Competition, playing Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16.
