Michigan Jazz Festival Fundraiser 2024 Rising Star Jazz Horn Competition will take place on Saturday, March 9th at 1 pm at Shields of Southfield at 25101 Telegraph Rd, Southfield MI. $20 cover at the door to support the Michigan Jazz Festival. Five outstanding horn players will be competing for cash prizes and the 1st place winner will perform with the All-Star Big Band under the direction of Vincent Chandler at the Michigan Jazz Festival on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
The finalists are: Andrew Brown on Trumpet; Houston Patton on Saxophone; Nanami Haruta on Trombone; Jauron Perry on Trumpet; Josie Ala on Trumpet. Accompanying the contestants will be host Vincent Chandler with the Scott Gwinnell Trio. Please come and enjoy listening to these fine young musicians, the future of jazz.
