The JAPC Concert Series is please to welcome Kevin Cole, renowned Gershwin interpreter to entertain and inspire us as we get to know George and Ira Gershwin in a real and up close way through his unique perspective as a pianist, vocalist, song writer and archivist.
Kevin performs the original solo version of Rhapsody in Blue with George Gershwin’s own virtuosic arrangement as Gershwin played it. Recently, he worked with the University of Michigan Gershwin Initiative’s restored critical editions of Concerto in F, Second Rhapsody and I Got Rhythm Variations. The concert is free, so bring a friend!
“Kevin is the best Gershwin pianist since Gershwin himself—no one can touch him.”
Edward Jablonski, author of GERSHWIN and the Encyclopedia of American Music
“I love the way you play my brother’s music.
You have the same energy and sharp rhythms like he did.”
Frances Gershwin Godowsky, sister to George and Ira Gershwin
