This Labor Day weekend, celebrate Detroit’s rich history of jazz music with the world’s largest FREE Jazz festival featuring world-class talent. The festival will take place in Hart Plaza with additional programming at the Gretchen C. Valade Jazz Center on the campus of Wayne State University in Midtown. Here are the hours:
Friday, September 4: 6:15 – 10:45 p.m.
Saturday, September 5: 1:15 – 10 p.m.
Sunday, September 6: 1:15 – 10:45 p.m.
Monday, September 7: 2 – 5 p.m.
Linda Yohn and John Penney will performing emcee duties and announcements plus we’ll have a 90.9 WRCJ and Detroit PBS tent set up with goodies. Also of note this year, on behalf of the Jazz Journalists Association, Linda will present the 2026 award for outstanding small jazz group to the all female band Artemis on Saturday evening at their performance.
