Tune in weekdays at 10 a.m. to hear Haley share the greats in classical music. At noon, relax with Bach’s Lunch, a work by J. S. Bach. At 1 p.m., discover the composer and his music in Midday Mozart. She then rounds out the afternoon with an eclectic repertoire of inspiring classical sounds.
great new webpage!
Thank you Joey!
Greetings from New England! Peter played today (7-Feb-2023) Seigfried’s Funeral March. For me, the film connection with this music will always be the death of King Arthur in 1981’s Excalibur. (Which also introduced me to O Fortuna! Great memories.)
Thank you for listening from New England! Yes there was some good music in that film.
Where is Dave Wagner?
His vacation is almost over. He will return on Wednesday.
I LOVE Mozart Symphony #40! My daughter played this with Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony some years ago and it is still a favorite memory. It was amazing to hear young musicians play this so well! Thanks for playing it. It made my day!
That’s nice to hear, thank you Heather. We play it gladly!
March 14th at 11:30 ish, what was playing before Harp Concerto Op4 #6 in B flat (Handel)? Or was that the same music that was playing at 11:37?

11:20:39a Valse de concert, S430
Liszt, Franz
Howard, Leslie, piano
11:30:43a Harp Concerto in B Flat, Op. 4, No. 6 (HWV 294)

What was the “Concertata” by a German Composer, played today between 3pm – 5pm?
Hello Wesley, that was Concertante Music composed by Boris Blacher and performed by the German Symphony Orchestra, Berlin.
My composers are Beethoven and Rachmaninof for the competition.
Thank you Maria!
The Symphony No. 1 “Afro-American” by William Grant Still sounded really great today. I don’t recall hearing it before… Thanks!
Sure, we were happy to play it!
Hearing for the 1st time from Perrysburg Ohio sounds great
Thank you for joining us David!
Oh man, thanks for the Gorecki. Haven’t heard it in quite awhile. So lovely.
You’re welcome Cathy. We try to sprinkle in some lesser known gems too.
I have spent too much time looking for I thing on your playlist and I cannot find it. I think it was July 18 (could have been the 17th or 19th) around 2pm, a piece by Franz Schubert. He is my love and I really want to know what was played. Thanks! Gayle
Hi Gayle, a little before that on the 18th we played Schubert’s “Symphony No 8 in b, D 759 “Unfinished”: I Allegro moderato”. Was it that one?
You played something I think on that day that was supposed to be a modern piece using instruments from brandenberg concerto it was from around 1911. I thought it was sibelius but I can’t find it, any clue?
Hi Elissa, we did play a piece by Sibelius on Midday Music Monday. It was The Tempest: Suite No. 2, Op. 109, No. 3. Was that the one you were looking for?
Hi WRCJ,
Your new website looks great. However, for the past few days the display has shown “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba” by Handel as being played, continuously. This is also shown when we view what’s playing on our car’s radio. The actual music played, and announcers, all sound AOK.
Hi Phil, sorry about that, we are in the process of replacing the music database computer in the main studio which may have caused problems with the title display. We are working on it right now.
Liking this Tchaikovsky Suite, I don;t know if I have heard this before. It is a nice change from Marche Slav!
Who is playing this Schubert quintet?
Hi Thor, that was the Alban Berg Quartett with Heinrich Schiff on cello performing Schubert’s Quintet in C. We have it on an EMI disc, spine number 7243 5 66942 2 4.
What orchestra performed “Venus” from The Planets on Friday? I also would like to know the name of the piece which followed that.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul, Venus was performed by the BBC Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Andrew Davis. The piece after that was “Three Japanese Pictures” by Billy Mayerl.
Midday music was awesome today with Bach’s Violin Concerto at noon followed by Tchaikovsky’s 5th. Can’t get much better than that… Thanks!
Thank you Bill. Fortunately we have lots of good stuff to choose from!
That Bach violin sonata was beautiful today. What was the piece called and who was the violinist? Thanks!
Hi, that was Violin Concerto No.1 In a BWV1041: II. Andante performed by Joshua Bell on violin with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
Another great Bach piece today around 12:30 featuring the piano or maybe a Clavichord. Can you tell me what it was?
Hi William, that would either have been the first movement of the Brandenburg Concerto #2 performed by the English Chamber Orchestra with Ian Watson on harpsichord under the direction of Anthony Newman or
the Partita #1, BWV 825 performed by Charles Owen on piano.
Lovely Bach for today. Midday Music with Peter Whorf
Trk 1-3 J.S.Bach
Prelude, Fugue and Allegro in E flat
Merci !
Thank you Lucy, it’s nice to hear you enjoyed it!
Uplifting story… I was sitting at a metro Detroit intersection with my car windows down this week listening to Bach’s Lunch. Next thing I know, the person in the next car over was calling over to me. They wanted to know what station I was listening to and that they liked classical music. I told them 90.9 FM and Bach’s Lunch and they switched their station and thanked me. Hopefully, we have a new long term listener!
Wow, thanks for spreading the word! Yes, hopefully a happy new member of the 90.9 WRCJ family.
Tchaikovsky 2 sure sounds great today! It was an excellent idea to play that one, thanks…
The Brahms Piano Concerto #1 featuring Helene Grimaud on piano sounded excellent today!!!
Thanks Bill! Well, she is very talented.
Great music!!!!
Thank you Sharon!
My Grandmother my Father’s Mother’s maiden name was Geroux French Canadian Haley!

That Kevin Kaska piece was very enjoyable this afternoon! It was something completely new to me, thanks…
Excellent, we try to bring you the favorites and hopefully some new favorites!
Lovely music today on Midday with Haley Taylor. Is it possible to get a playlist from 12/10? Thank you!
Thank you Pamela! You can see that playlist on this page:

Hello, Haley. I am a long-time listener and financial supporter who relocated to the west coast of the state (St. Joseph) in June of last year. I wanted to tell you that you have brought a lovely third dimension to the on-air talent at WRCJ. We already were addicted to the humor and humanity of Peter and Dr. Dave, but you just add so well to the mix. Thank you for doing what you do. (The music’s pretty darned great too!)
Thank you Richard, it’s nice to hear you’re enjoying the show. We’ll pass your message along to Haley.
