Amy Beach’s Gaelic Symphony is a big work with beautiful folk melodies and a large orchestration; Schumann’s Piano Concerto features University of Michigan DMA student Katherine Benson; and Holmes’ La Nuit et L’Amour is a beautiful symphonic interlude from her large-scale ode-symphonie Ludus Pro Patria.
