Chamber Music at the Scarab Club will present its 25th season opening concert at Detroit’s historic Scarab Club on Sunday, November 19th at 7 pm. CMSC is thrilled to welcome back DSO cellist Cole Randolph, who performed so beautifully in the Florence Price Piano Quintet back in February 2022! For this concert, he will be joined by his twin sister, violist Harper Randolph, who is a DSO African American Fellow this season! The pair will perform an exciting and eclectic array of duos, including Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Celli (arr. for cello and viola duo by Cicely Parnas), American Haiku by Paul Wianko, Limestone and Felt by Caroline Shaw and Astor Piazzola’s Calle 92, to name a few. Violinist Velda Kelly is excited to perform Voice of Silence, a solo violin work by Colombian-born local composer, Paola Marquez. In addition, Velda Kelly and violinist Molly Hughes will unite with Harper and Cole Randolph to perform three of the sparkling Five Novelettes for string quartet by Alexander Glazunov.
